- 1Do not approach under any circumstances
- 2Call the Carabinieri Forestali IMMEDIATELY (1515) or Provincial Police
- 3Photograph from a distance and document the GPS location
- 4Keep a safe distance (at least 50โ100 metres)

- โDo not approach even if it seems injured or motionless
- โDo not attempt any rescue independently
- โDo not post the location on social media in real time (risk of disturbance)
โ Important note
The wolf in Italy is strictly the responsibility of the Carabinieri Forestali and the National Reference Centres for wildlife. Interventions on injured wolves are carried out only by specialist personnel with tranquillisers. The Forestry Freephone is 1515.
โ Legal protection
The wolf is strictly protected by the Habitats Directive (Annexes II and IV) and Law 157/1992. Any killing, capture, or disturbance is a serious criminal offence.
