Raptorโœ“ Protected species

Kestrel

Falco tinnunculus

โœ“What to do NOW

  1. 1Approach slowly and cover with a towel to restrain the wings
  2. 2Grasp both feet simultaneously โ€” the talons are dangerous
  3. 3Place in a ventilated dark box, lined with a rolled towel
  4. 4Do not attempt to feed it โ€” raptors tolerate short fasting well
  5. 5Contact a CRAS specialised in raptors within 1-2 hours

โœ—NEVER do this

  • โœ—Do not handle without thick gloves โ€” talons can easily pierce skin
  • โœ—Do not pour water into its beak
  • โœ—Do not put it with other birds
  • โœ—Do not keep in a bright or noisy environment
