โ Important note
The greater flamingo is present in Italy mainly in Sardinia (Cagliari, Oristano), the Po Delta, and some coastal lagoons. Juveniles (grey-white, without pink coloration) are found exhausted or disoriented in autumn after dispersal flights. The main cause of death is collision with power cables and man-made structures. Every individual found has scientific value โ note any coloured rings on the legs.

Protected by the Birds Directive (Annex I) and Law 157/1992. Species of Community interest.
